The Paris Olympics 2024 is scheduled to be held from July 26, 2024, to August 11, 2024, with games taking place at prominent Parisian destinations such as the Grand Palais and the Palace of Versailles.
This will be the third time that the city has hosted the games and that coming games will mark 100 years since they last hosted in Paris in 1924. Given the history and the stakes of the game, the hosting nation has offered, for the first time, travel and hospitality packages in partnership with hospitality provider On Location.

Paris Olympics 2024 Basics
There are 329 events across 32 sports and 48 disciplines, with venues for events spanning 35 different locations: 7 in the Grand Paris zone, 20 in the Paris Centre zone, 4 in the Versailles zone, and 7 divided across 11 locations around France.
With such a vast number of events taking place over 16 days, it is important to consider which matches you would like to watch and at which location. Staying centrally within Paris will allow you to attend more matches, but it is crucial to have accompanying tickets to ensure you can catch the games.
From the opening ceremony on the 26th of July on the River Seine to the men’s football final at Parc des Princes, on August 9, plenty is going on at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

What are the Paris Olympics 2024 Packages?

The Olympics 2024 packages come in either hospitality or travel packages. Hospitality includes a centralised hospitality area and on-site hospitality at sporting venues. Travel packages typically include a combination of the following with tickets to events being guaranteed: hospitality, accommodation, travel arrangements to the venue, and other guest services.

There are three main pillars of the hospitality program, namely:
- Clubhouse 24: A centralised hospitality and entertainment zone located at Palais de Tokyo, a contemporary art museum where fans who choose the affordable hospitality in The City packages can enjoy food and beverages at the Parisian-inspired food market, and entertainment options including live music, sports demonstrations and family activities.

Paris Olympics 2024 Travel packages explained
Broadly speaking, On Location divides the travel packages into two offerings: Explore 2024 package and Discover 2024 package.
Starting at the more affordable range is the Discover 2024 package. The duration for this package is 1 to 3 nights and is designed for Olympic Games enthusiasts. The Discover 2024 Packages are for shorter stays, and include event tickets, hotel accommodations, and transportation.
Explore packages are the higher tier offering and are 3 to 6-night experiences and are made for people who want to take in more of Paris. They include everything in the Discover 2024 Package, as well as a tailor-made tour of the City of Light, a City Pass to Paris’s top attractions, and access to our exclusive Salon 24 hospitality space in central Paris.
In practice however, you’ll need to tailor travel packages to your needs according to the dates of your stay, the sport you want to attend, and the level of service you’d like: 3 stars, 4 stars, or 5 stars.
For example, at the time of writing, we tried to look for any travel packages with a 3-star level of service and the lowest price we got was EUR490 for a 1-night stay at Ibis Paris la Défense Courbevoie to watch the Women’s Hockey match.
The package included a ticket to the game, a gift, priority transportation to the event venue, and guest services for any questions you might have from the date of purchase till the day of the match.
We tried searching for a 5-star level of service at 6 nights and got an Explore package that cost EUR36,220 which includes check-in at the 5 stars Hôtel Bel Ami; tickets to 6 Olympic events; entryway to Clubhouse 24; an invitation to a VIP Celebration; a tailor-made tour of the city that caters to 6 Areas of Interest of your choice: History & Culture, Food & Wine, Fashion & Style, Modern Paris, Family-Friendly, or Active & Wellness; City Pass Access to Paris’s top attractions like the Eiffel Tower, airport or railway transfer to the hotel, group transportation from your hotel, plus guest services for any questions you might have.
Take note that not all events will come with tour packages. Surfing, sailing, and shooting events aren’t available to purchase with travel packages but favourites like football, fencing, and badminton are available—the same goes for hospitality packages.
What are the top things to see at the Paris Olympics 2024?
While this question is a little subjective if you’re looking to just attend the most hyped tournaments that everyone will be watching, here are the top three most watched events at the Olympics according to YouGov, a research firm for sports. The study polled the 4 top gold-earning countries (Germany, China, the USA, and the UK) to find out what the fans in each country follow and they’ve found these 3 sports to be the most followed:
Swimming
The swimming event will be held every day at the Paris La Défense Arena with the finals for men and women on 4 August. The arena is notable as the location that hosted The Rolling Stones in 2017 as the inaugural concert at the event after its opening in 2017. Since then it has hosted the likes of Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar, Iron Maiden, and Imagine Dragons and is set to play there on 22 August 2023.
Where is it being held: Paris La Défense Arena
How to get there: Paris La Défense Arena will be served by La Défense – Grande Arche station (RER line A, train lines L & U, metro line 1, tram line T2), and Nanterre Préfecture station (RER line A).
Dates: 27 July to 4 August
Things to do nearby: La Défense is a major business district located 3km outside of the Paris city limit. As a major business district, the location is notable for its tall skyscrapers and modern architecture that are a stark contrast to the ancient city of Paris.
As it’s a business district, expect to do some high street shopping here and eat at chic restaurants here. The most iconic landmark of the district is the La Grande Arche which houses offices. Unlike the Arc de Triomphe, this arche is completely modern and was built between 1985 and 1989.
Athletics
There are 48 events in the athletics category, which will take place at the Stade de France. The Stade de France is the national stadium of France and the sixth-largest stadium in Europe. It is also the largest stadium in Europe specifically designed for track and field events, making it an ideal location for athletic competitions.
Where is it being held: Stade de France
How to get there: The Stade de France will be served by the station’s Stade de France Saint‑Denis (RER line D), La Plaine Stade de France (RER line B) and Saint‑Denis Porte de Paris (metro line 13). However, to avoid the exceptional number of passengers expected at these stations, spectators are advised whenever possible to use the future Pleyel station (metro line 14), Front Populaire station (metro line 12) or the Gare Saint‑Denis (train line H from the Gare du Nord in central Paris). Waymarked pedestrian routes will be created between these transport hubs and the Stade de France.
Dates: 1 to 11 August
Things to do nearby: Located in Saint-Denis, visitors can explore the famous Basilica of Saint-Denis, the final resting place of numerous kings and queens of France. Saint-Denis is a suburb situated 10 km north of Paris’s city centre. Additionally, the Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen, the largest flea market in France, is also in close proximity. Lastly, the Stade de France is situated near Montmartre, where the iconic Basilica of Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre is perched atop a hill. Montmartre is also known for being featured in the movie John Wick: Chapter 4 in a memorable showdown scene.
Gymnastics
Artistic gymnastics is the most followed event among US fans and ranks third overall among UK sporting fans. Rhythmic gymnastics is the second most followed event in both countries. With the rise in popularity of gymnast Simone Biles, it is no surprise that the sport has gained a strong following in the United States. The artistic gymnastics competitions will be held at the Bercy Arena, while the rhythmic gymnastics competitions will take place at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena. The Porte de La Chapelle Arena was specifically built for the Olympics and will also host badminton competitions, while the Accor Arena is one of the main music venues in Paris.
Where is it being held: Bercy Arena (Artistic) | Porte de La Chapelle Arena (Rhythmic)
Dates: 27 July to 5 August (Artistic) | 8 to 10 August (Rhythmic)
How to get there: The Bercy Arena will be served by Bercy station (metro lines 6 & 14) and Paris Gare de Lyon (RER lines A & D, train line R, metro line 1).
The Porte de la Chapelle Arena will be served by Porte de la Chapelle station (metro line 12, tram line T3b). However, to avoid the exceptionally high number of passengers using this station spectators are advised whenever possible to use Rosa Parks station (RER line E).
Things to do nearby: The Bercy Arena’s recognisable pyramid shape is already something to see but the area near the River Seine is also located near the Latin quarter which is great for food. The Porte de la Chapelle Arena is located south of Saint-Denis and it’s recommended that you visit Saint-Denis for things to see.
Opening and Closing Ceremonies
The historic opening ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 is set to take place on the River Seine, commencing from Pont d’Austerlitz and concluding at Pont d’Iena near the Eiffel Tower. This significant event offers various ways to enjoy the spectacle, ranging from grandstands along the river to premium locations on the Alma Bridge.
